Buying for a puppy

Buy for the adult size and use a divider to shrink the space while your puppy grows. A crate should give room to stand, turn around and lie down, and not much more. A crate that's too big can be easier for a puppy to use as a toilet corner. Not sure of the adult size? Use the puppy weight calculator first.

Weight bands from the PetSmart crate sizing guide. The 2 to 4 inch allowance is common sizing guidance, so check the maker's own chart too.
